“Let me get this straight: To preserve your right to remain silent, you have to talk?”
So queried one of tnlib’s readers on Parsley’s Pics yesterday.
After four decades of hearing it on our favorite TV shows, we all know the Miranda warning:
“You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you. Do you understand the rights I have just read to you? With these rights in mind, do you wish to speak to me?”
On Tuesday the Supreme Court of the United States made a decision that will weaken a suspect’s rights. The menatality of the Court’s five assenting justices seems to be “Guilty until proven innocent.”
Before Tuesday, HERE, clearly spelled out, were YOUR rights, everyone’s rights who suddenly found themselves suspect in a crime.

This really is an unbelievable decision. But thank you, ma'am, for the link.
The more I learn about this decision, the more convinced I am that the dissenters on the court were right. And the irony of the undoing of a 1996 decision involving an arrest in Arizona is bizarre.
Bit by bit the conservatives chip away at all of our rights. The supreme court in Ohio ruled that police need no material evidence that you might be speeding. If they say, "It looked like you were speeding," that's all it takes to convict you of speeding. Talk about the dumbing down of America!
We see from those supposed to be intelligent people, a LACK of INTELLIGENT QUOTIENT dictating rules/laws for the rest of us. Sad picture isn't it? Especially when the education budget is always the first to get cut from all budgets.
Do the radicals think the Gulf dsaster is God annointing them with Bibllical proportions of oil? How long will the American people sit of their seat of do nothing and let such rule this nation?
How many more rights have to get stripped away before we stand together and say: Enough is Enough!
