DemWit wants your suggestions for a new state song for South Carolina.
My friend Bill Sumrall of Louisiana has suggested “Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina.”
I submit “How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?”

AAAHHHHAA!
Hillarious!
I think they should create a new song by joining the two you suggest in a medaly....
Don't cry for meeee...Mariiiaaa..
Argentina is too far awayyyy...
Your cheatiin' heart will tell on you ...
"I was travelin'down the road tryin'to loosen my load I got seven women on my mind..."
Chris Smith, a fan of “West Side Story” is singing …
“Maria, I just kissed a girl named Maria …”
On top of Ole Sparky... should fit the bill, since he talked about their 'sparkin' time'. Then end it with, "My sparkin' days are over, my sparkin' lights are out..."
Since his bags (under his eyes) were still packed, it might not yet be over!
OK, OK . . . so I admit I read the e-mails. The first song that came to mind as I read the "tender" entries was "Tenderly," but then there's also "Fascination," another (a)rousing romantic ditty:
It was fascination
I know
And it might have ended
Right then, at the start
Just a passing glance
Just a brief romance
And I might have gone
On my way
Empty hearted
It was fascination
I know
Seeing you alone
With the moonlight above
Then I touch your hand
And next moment
I kiss you
Fascination turned to love...
=========
Bless their hearts.
And, umm, what about Ricky Nelson's "Traveling Man"?
